UCD Debate Camp 2017
What is the UCD Debate Camp
For decades, the debating societies of UCD have helped thousands of schoolchildren find their voices through their Schools’ Debating Competitions. As organisers and judges, we have seen shy students learn how to command the attention of the room, and chatterboxes turn into gifted communicators.
After the success of last year’s camps, this summer we are delighted to get the chance to coach debate in a way not seen anywhere else in Ireland—through week-long camps which will be held in UCD’s Belfield Campus.
Over 5 days, students will receive personalised coaching, training, feedback and guidance from some of the most accomplished debaters and judges in Ireland, if not the world. Many of our coaches have excelled at European and World Championships. We welcome students of all levels of experience and ability, from the complete novice looking to find out what this debating thing is all about, to the experienced competitor who wants to know how to further refine their current skills.
Debating can be a life-changing activity, one that gives skills and training that makes students stand out in academic work, interviews and professional life. But more than that, it’s a place to expand your intellectual horizons, challenge your mind, and make the very best of friends. We want to work to bring that to students all across the country!
