As human beings, we have an innate yearning for the absolute. We desire more and more, and we don't seem to be able to quench this thirst. We seek fulfilment in material goods and pleasure, but... will that really make us happier in the long term or even in the short term...?
Meanwhile, we hear that love is what fully fulfils a man or a woman. But, what is love? How do I live it out in my relationships (friends, girlfriend/boyfriend, family...)? Love can just be an abstraction if it's not clearly broken down into concrete realities.
Cathy and Orlagh from the group Pure in Heart (http://pureinheartireland.com/
) will be giving us an insightful, down to earth talk on authentic love... in today's society.
Two quotes from "Love and Responsibility" by John Paul II:
- “Love consists of a commitment which limits one's freedom - it is a giving of the self, and to give oneself means just that: to limit one's freedom on behalf of another.”
- “Friendship, as has been said, consists in a full commitment of the will to another person with a view to that person's good.”
