On Wednesday, October 17th, we are having an evening talk with Dr. Gerald Barry. He is a lecturer and researcher in the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine. His research focuses on how the immune system reacts to invading viruses and understanding the 'species barrier'. The title of the talk is 'Barriers to Infection: Can Mosquitoes Spread HIV?'. This talk will be on why some viral pathogens can spread between species while some viruses are very species specific. This talk will be given at 6pm in Health Sciences C006. There will be tea and coffee beforehand and some free pizza to follow.
