Your favourite college taiko team is back at it again with our annual "Beginners' Taiko Workshop"! In Japanese, "taiko" is a large range of drums but in English, we use the word to refer to a traditional style of Japanese drumming. Our Taiko Captain Sayako will help you learn the basics of taiko, including how to hold your bachi (drumsticks), the correct stance and a basic rhythm. Use this workshop and the following three public practices to find out whether joining the Taiko Team is right for you. The team practises weekly with opportunities to perform at our Taiko Charity Concert in during the Spring trimester and the Experience Japan Festival in April! All levels of musical experience are welcome, so don't be shy! Sign up using the Eventbrite links and act fast as spaces are limited.
