For many, commencing higher education at a later phase in life, can be both a challenging and rewarding experience. Where over 90% of the student population are under 23, the presence of a “supportive space” where mature students can foster friendships, relax, provide & get advice and interact with their peers is an essential and critical aspect of the college support mechanism.
Our goal, within the Mature Students Society, is to create a sounding board for such challenges and to provide that welcoming space and environment. This ensures that the potential daunting and intimidating experience felt by many mature students evolves into a long-term positive participation with education, with both UCD and with their follow alumni. In this way, the Mature Students Society can help to ensure that all can benefit, contribute and achieve their full potential.
