UCD Politics and International Relations Society presents to you the Siege of Jadotville.
We will be hosting guest speaker Dr. Michael Kennedy, who is known as Ireland's world-class researchers and a leading member of the Royal Irish Academy.
Dr. Kennedy is the Executive Editor of the Documents on Irish Foreign Policy series. Dr. Kennedy's expertise is in Irish political, diplomatic and military history. His research is extensively on Irish Foreign Policy and the role of Ireland in the United Nations since its membership and Ireland's position on the world stage. In addition, Dr. Kennedy's research covers Ireland's position of neutrality to the investigations of the sinking of Bismarck in 1941 and Ireland's role.
Given his expertise and numerous publications on the topic, Dr. Kennedy is the ideal academic to introduce "The Seige of Jadotville"
He will provide an insight and overview of the international and domestic conditions in and around the Congolese conflict during the 1960's and the position of Ireland and her defense forces during the UN missions.Come along as this will be an interesting event, indeed.
