Love The Oceans is coming to UCD to talk to all students interested in marine conservation! Don't miss this opportunity to come along and meet the team! They will be doing a talk in the Quad Room in the Old Student Centre at 4pm on the 13th of November. The talk is being done by Love The Oceans' Founder and Managing Director Francesca Trotman.
Love The Oceans is a non-profit marine conservation organisation in Guinjata Bay, Mozambique. They use research, education and diving to drive action towards a more sustainable future. They offer a cutting edge volunteer program that gives individuals the chance to work alongside their marine biologists and the local community helping with conservation and research.
Volunteers gain experience through their research and community outreach over the space of 2 - 6 weeks (plus an optional extra week including 5 nights in the world famous Greater Kruger Natural Ecosystem!).
As a volunteer, you form an essential part of their team. You will rotate around their principal activities of:
- Fisheries data collection
- Megafauna surveys
- Coral reef surveys
- Teaching and painting at the local schools
- Teaching swimming lessons to local children and adults
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will not only give you hands on practical experience that you will not get elsewhere, but also a leg up in the world of conservation careers!
Visit their website and email them if you're interested and want to learn more!
