UCD FILM AND VIDEO SOCIETY FILM COMPETITION: IRELAND AND CANADA Part of “Untold Stories of the Past 150 Years” A Conference Presented by The Craig Dobbin Chair in Canadian Studies and the UCD Centre for Canadian Studies The UCD Film and Video Society, in conjunction withThe Craig Dobbin Chair in Canadian Studies and the UCD Centre for Canadian Studies, is pleased to announce a film competition open exclusively to undergraduate students at UCD. *** INFO: - Students are invited to submit short films by midnight on March 16, 2017 - Submissions must relate to the relationship between Ireland and Canada. The theme is meant to celebrate the fact that Canada is celebrating its 150th year in 2017 and, in particular, its relationship with Ireland. - Submissions can be personal (did your friend or aunt or long-lost cousin move there?), historical (the Irish emigrants who moved to Canada in the 19th century), or downright comical (who makes better beer?) - All submissions must be original. - Submissions must not be more than *five minutes* in length - Filming can be informal (digital, hand-held cameras) or with the use of FilmSoc equipment *** PRIZES - The top three winning films will be screened at the Canada 150 Conference for viewing by international delegates. At the conference, which is scheduled to be held at UCD between April 28-29, 2016 - Winning film will be publicly announced and awarded 100 Euros. - The winning films will also be put into competition with the top three films from Bishop’s University, the home University of this year’s Craig Dobbin Chair of Canadian Studies. *** Any questions, submissions or applications, please contact email@example.com
