    Event Description

On the 13th of November we hosted our cultural concert Sounds from the Middle East at the Grand Social in collaboration with Trinity’s Arabesque society. This is the 2nd year the event has been running. This gig aims towards showcasing Arabic poetry, instruments, songs and dances to both an Arab and non-Arab audience. When the singing started, people got off their seats and started dancing dabke. It was thrilling seeing this cultural experience taking place! People from all over Ireland joined us from all different age groups and nationalities. We were honored by the attendance of the Ambassador of Palestine. Overall we sold 85 tickets, for €10 each. The event was very successful! It was an enjoyable and hectic evening to say the least. We had two photographers documenting the event. There was a bar serving drinks as well. We started off with a bit of poetry from Ali Taki & Daniela Aziz. Then, Abdulaziz Abusharikh played the Qanon while the Oud was played by Abdullah Al Bayyari.  Nikolas Al Furaih played the Saxophone and Mohammad Syfkhan played Buzuq music and sang traditional Arab songs from different countries. Sounds from the Middle East The ambiance was very nice. Everyone was pleased with the venue's setting. There were decorations all around the room that gave an oriental vibe, which nicely complemented the performances. Holding an event off-campus is a different experience! It gives our international members a chance to discover nice places in Dublin. This event was held shortly before the Autumn Semester exams had started, allowing students to have some fun before more stressful times! We really enjoyed working with TCD Arabesque Society on this event. Collaborating with a society from another college is a rewarding experience. Not only do we get to have fun with our fellow society committee, our members also get to meet each other and become friends through our events! We were already preparing for our next big collaboration with Arabesque...
