PharmTox are delighted to invite you to our first event of the academic year on: "Survival & Resilience in Post Graduate Research" We'll be hearing from Senior Faculty members in academia, past PhD students currently working in industry and academia and current PhD students on top tips for surviving a postgraduate research degree. This event is aimed at postgraduate students at all stages of a postgraduate degree, or anyone considering a future in research and discussion will focus on ways of becoming resilient in stressful situations. 22nd November, 6:00pm in the UCD Student Centre Red Room Our Panel consists of: 1. Professor Cormac Taylor - UCD, School of Medicine, 'Teacher of the Year' (2007 & 2010) - will talk to us about his experiences of supervising several postgraduate students and handling stressful situations in the academic world. 2. Dr. Darrell Andrews - UCD, School of Medicine post-doctoral researcher - will be discussing her recent PhD experiences in grant and paper writing 3. Dr. Oisin Gough - Medical Affairs Intern, Novartis - recent PhD Graduate who will share his experiences of the PhD journey and life after research 4. Ms. Varsha Murthy - current PhD student in the UCD School of Psychology - teaches on mindfulness based interventions sessions and will discuss stress Panelists will discuss day-to-day research life, handling stress, pros and cons/highs and lows of graduate research and life after research. We welcome you all to participate in this interactive session as we hear from experts in the field. Refreshments will be provided on the night.
