This Tuesday's Clinical Talk will be given by our very own Dr. Vivienne Duggan in Room Vet 115 at 7pm. Vivienne will discuss everything you need to know about working with goals in practice, focussing on common presentations you will be faced with in both mixed and equine practice. This will be great revision for those of you heading off to see equine practice or mixed practice this Spring. This is Vivienne's second talk of the year, kindly sponsored by Gain Feed. Most of you know Vivienne at this stage, but for those of you who don't... Vivienne trained at University College Dublin, graduating in 1999. She subsequently completed an internship and a residency programme in equine internal medicine at Oklahoma State University, interspersed with a year in general practice in Ireland. She began a PhD investigating acute phase proteins in peri-partum foals while at Oklahoma State in 2002 which she completed in 2006. She became a board certified specialist with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Large Animal in 2004 and with the European College of Equine Internal Medicine in 2007. Between 2004 and 2006 she shuttled between specialist equine practice in Ireland and in New Zealand. She returned to Ireland permanently in January 2006 to take up a post as a Large Animal (Equine) Medicine Lecturer at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin where she is presently based. She is part of the equine referral clinic at the University college Dublin Veterinary Hospital and of the UCD Animal Welfare Science and Ethics group. She is also the current President of Veterinary Ireland, the representative body for veterinarians in Ireland and a Veterinary Ireland delegate to FEEVA, the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations. Free tea, coffee, biscuits and pizza as always!
