    UCDSVP Volunteer Applications 2021/22

    • 01 Sep 2021 to 17 May 2022
    • Event Description

Our Volunteer drive for this academic year is now active! We have a whole host of activities for you to get involved in! Click here for our Volunteering Application Form Street Outreach

Street Outreach (also known as 'soup runs') are our most popular volunteering activity. Four nights a week, our volunteers walk around the city centre, armed with food, hot drinks and warm clothes, with the aim of giving them to those who need assistance. Volunteers also provide information on resources, should anyone need it, as well as just having the chats! Volunteers meet in town around 7.30 pm, and usually finish up around 10pm. It's a great way to meet other like minded people, as well as offering support to those who are in need. All volunteers must attend a training and be vetted, and there'll be experienced reps leading the way, so don't worry at all if you haven't volunteered before! We'll be getting training underway soon, so if you're at all interested be sure to fill out our application form!
      Youth Clubs
For anyone that loves working with children, and who is able to commit to volunteering each week, this is the volunteering activity for you! Volunteering with youth clubs is an incredibly rewarding experience, and such a fun way to inspire a whole new generation. It can involve a broad range of things, such as helping with homework, or giving lessons in things such as art or music, depending on the club. Volunteers will again be Garda vetted, and must undertake a child protection training to take part.
      Flat Decorating
Flat Decorating is a fantastic way to combine what I believe are the two finest things in life - volunteering, and Dermot Bannon. Volunteers go to the homes of people who have reached out to SVP and help with painting or fixing things.. basically whatever it needs to help make a house a home! No training or Garda vetting is required - projects are posted in a group where people can comment to come along. It's a very chill way to get involved and meet some very excellent beans!
