UCD Societies Council Christmas Reception 2017
On behalf of the Societies Council, we would like to thank all those who attended the pre-exam Christmas reception this week. We cannot thank you enough for your efforts and achievements this semester and we hope, at the very least, that the food and drink were up to scratch!
As the semester comes to a close, we can look back at some of the achievements of UCD societies over the past 3 months.
We have seen Societies hit record numbers at Freshers’ week with over 14,800 people sign ups, over 300 people in attendance at the Freshers’ Juggling Convention, Med Day raising almost €27,000 for Debra Ireland and a multitude of guests receiving honorary awards this year; John Kavanagh, Nigella Lawson, John Bishop and Reverend Al Sharpton to name a few.
The Societies Council appreciate the hard work and dedication that is involved in making these events a reality. For every event mentioned above there are a plethora of coffee mornings, meet-ups and screenings that take place day in, day out in the university. Every single one of these events contribute enormously to engaging students and giving them an outlet outside of the classroom in UCD and for this, we thank you.
Good luck to everyone in their exams over the coming weeks. We’re excited to kick things off in the second semester with many events planned around Refreshers Day! More details to come over the coming weeks.
