The Literary and Historical Society Presents: Women’s Week
The Literary and Historical society will be hosting a number of events this week to coincide with Women’s week. See below for some of our favourites:
Wednesday March 7th: This House Prefers A Woman on Top
To mark Women’s Week, we’re tackling women in leadership- the challenges they face, and how to overcome them. With a stellar line-up of speakers, we’ll be debating the best way to deconstruct institutional sexism- is playing by men’s rules the best way to ultimately overturn them, or should women reverse cowgirl the patriarchy and smash their way to the top? Are gender quotas just, or should it be “the best person for the job”? Is this what Hillary Clinton died for?
Get answers to all these questions and enjoy our refreshments as we say goodbye to the 163rd Session, and hello to gender equality, probably.
Friday March 9th: L&H Internal Women’s Mace Competition
As a way to end this week, the L&H wants to celebrate the talented female debaters we have! This competition is open to all self-identifying women to join us for a day of great motions, no males, food and a nice sprinkling of feminism. New debaters welcome!
