    UCD Summer Debate Camp 2019

1st-5th July Junior Camp 8th-12th July Senior Camp

What is the UCD Summer Debate Camp?

For decades, the debating societies of UCD have helped thousands of schoolchildren to find their voices through their school’s debating competitions. As organisers and judges we have seen shy students learn to command the attention of the room, and chatterboxes become gifted communicators.

After the success of the Midterm Debate camp, and following from the success of previous years, we are delighted to have the opportunity to coach debate in a unique way, not seen anywhere else in Ireland- through a five day course, held in UCD’s Belfield Campus.

Students will receive personalised coaching, training, feedback and guidance from some of the most accomplished debaters in Ireland. Many of our coaches have excelled at European and worldwide championships. We welcome students of all ability and experience, from the complete novice looking to learn more about debating, to the experienced competitor looking to refine their skills.

We know firsthand that debating can be a life-changing activity, one that gives training that lasts a lifetime. It equips students with new skills to aid them in academic work, interviews and professional life. But much more than that, it’s an avenue to expand your intellectual horizons, challenge your mind, and make the very best of friends. We want to work to bring that chance to students across the country.

    What do we offer?

    • World class coaching, by some of the most accomplished debaters in Ireland.
    • Targeted guidance to cater to each student.
    • Detailed end of term report to provide tailored feedback and aid development.
    • A custom made syllabus, designed to engage students at all levels of ability.
    • Small, streamed classes, to cater for different levels of ability.
    • Outside of class, students socialise in critical thinking games and activities.

Our goal is always to maximise fun while maintaining a relaxed, encouraged environment where students can be challenged.
