UCD Medical Society is one of the largest faculty societies in UCD and is open for membership to all UCD students. MedSoc hosts a variety of both academic and social events throughout the academic year. These events include careers evenings, USMLE advisory talks, debating tournaments, medical case competitions, guest speakers, night club events, scavenger hunts, sporting events such as the annual soccer tournament “Med Cup”, tag rugby intervarsities, the annual black-tie event Med Ball, and our very own MedSoc ski trip.

Charity fundraising forms a huge part of MedSoc’s activities during the year. Each October, hundreds of medical students take to the streets of Dublin to participate in bucket collections for our chosen charities on Med Day. We also run a large charity event in the second semester which has taken the form of White Collar Boxing and Strictly Come Dancing in past years.

Many other smaller societies have come under the MedSoc umbrella in recent years, including the new Student Medical Journal, SurgSoc, Medical Student Overseas Relief (MSOR), Médicins Sans Frontières (MSF), PaedSoc and UCD Psyched, to help cater for the specific interests of our members. Academic or social, we are here to provide for all our members’ needs and to make their time in UCD as memorable as possible.
