On the 9th of November 2017 the UCD Harry Potter society proudly hosted their 3rd annual Yule Ball at Clontarf Castle. This event was a wonderful opportunity for fans of the Wizarding World to escape into their imaginations for a night and celebrate their love of Harry Potter.
With over 148 people in attendance it was the most successful ball we’ve had so far. We were able to buy themed drinks at the castle before making our way into the great hall, which was spectacularly decorated, Harry Potter style. We had an amazing three course meal before our guests had a chance to win a selection of Harry Potter merchandise in our raffle.
With the meal out of the way we could begin dancing the night away, courtesy of DJ Brian. There was a stand at the ball owned by Patricia Cooney who was selling her handmade wizarding jewellery and wands.
All the proceeds from the raffle and this jewellery stand went towards Canteen Ireland. We made over €494 from the raffle alone.
All the memorable and possibly embarrassing moments from the night where documented in video format by one of our committee members, Aimee Keenan. You can watch the edited video she created here.
Overall it was a fun night for all involved and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.
